Big Sandy Sand Men Dig It By the Ton

Big Sandy Sand Company owned by G C Wright and son J T operates a 90 acre plant two miles north of Big Sandy in Upshur County. The firm produces about 200 tons daily of foundry sand and a white sand for golf courses and masonry. The $500000 plant employs six men and began in 1948 on a barge on Big Sandy Creek.
