Gladewater highway loop proposal and city street plans
The plan outlines a future outer by pass looping from US 271 through US 80 to US 27, with two-lane initial traffic and grade separations at key crossings to ease downtown congestion. It also calls for upgrading East and West Gay Avenue and other arterials, tighter regulation of driveways, and parking rules on narrow two-way streets. Local police reports note a weekend of minor incidents including a two-car accident, a break-in at Carroll's Drive-In, a shooting injury, and several fires with no damage reported.
