Fire Blast Hits Humble Oil Plant Near Hawkins
A boilerhouse fire and explosion at the Humble Oil and Refining Co. plant one mile north of Hawkins on Farm Road 14 occurred at about 8 40 a m Thursday. No casualties were reported. Damage was placed at 10 000 to 15 000 dollars, with the plant to reopen Friday after quick shutdown isolating the rest of the plant.

Hadaway Trial Set For Monday In Upshur County
Jerry Hadaway a Glade High School junior who will be 18 this month is set for trial Monday August 19 at 10 a.m. in the 115th Criminal District Court Judge Looney of Gilmer to face charges in the slayings of his father Dale Hadaway 44 his mother Dorothy Hadaway 34 and his grandfather Earnest Hadaway 70 The case moved from Upshur to Wood County on a change of venue A mistrial was declared in January in Gilmer when a juror fell ill after three witnesses testified Relatives found the three bodies April 29 in a shallow grave near the family farm in Pritchett community about eight miles southwest of Gilmer Charges were filed by 9 a.m. the same date Upshur Sheriff Doyle Johnson said the youth admitted the killings after being read his rights Hadaway posted 25 000 bond after the mistrial and the change of venue was ordered April 26 with the trial originally set for May 20
