Census interviewers will survey local households August 19 to 24 as part of a national Third Annual Smoking Habits study. Georgeanne P Ferguson will conduct interviews to assess past and present smoking trends for the U S Public Health Service and Labor Department data.

The Ashland Oil News reports 89 percent of 5 260 wells drilled in 1967 were dry holes. The average depth reached 5325 feet and only two or three of every 100 wildcat wells prove commercially profitable.
