Don Branum of Gladewater heads Radio Mechanical Structures Inc. a Kilgore firm supplying concrete steel and aluminum parts for satellite space panels. RMS, a sub contractor to RCA ITT Ford and Harris, employs about 65 people with a $780000 payroll and operates from the United States to Africa plans a Nigeria station for the November Black Arts Festival.

Beavers Keeps Seat Through 41 Years of Gladewater Bears Football
J. W. Beavers, Plymouth and Chrysler dealer and longtime Gladewater Schools official, has attended every Gladewater Bears home game from Section V Row 5 Seats 8 and 9 for 41 years. He says he may quit after this season as his grandson Hugh Bowden, a Bears linebacker, graduates in May. The team began in 1935 in a tough district with Longview Marshall Texarkana Kilgore and Tyler, with Thanksgiving games a highlight.

Gladewater Municipal Hospital administrator Milton Bolgiano briefed the Rotary Club on health care trends and physician recruitment. He cited heavy patient loads, growing doctor recruitment efforts, and plans by two doctors I Singh and M A Qureshi to open local offices. He warned of Medicare and Medicaid patient shares and a potentially adverse Longview city hospital move.

TSC/TEU funds 6th building on campus
Tyler State College Texas Eastern University officials moved to fund a sixth building at the 207 acre campus by raising the building use fee via bonds repaid from the fee income. Students will pay $6 per semester hour with no max, up from $4. The project includes a Health and Physical Education Building plus athletic facilities and outdoor courts. Russ Securities Corp of San Antonio was approved as revenue bond consultant.

Telethon Planned in Gladewater for Muscular Dystrophy

Gay Avenue students register Friday from 8 30 to 11 a m with names posted outside assigned rooms and remaining students directed to the cafeteria. The 10th annual MD telethon will aid research and patient services with coast to coast coverage by 190 TV stations and appearances in Hawaii Puerto Rico and Guam. The Las Vegas Hotel Sahara telethon originates with Ed McMahon and Jerry Lewis and last year raised 16.1 million dollars for the national health agency.
