Despite threatening weather a record Gilgandra Golf Links turnout contested the 18 hole Western Stores Trophy. D Farrance won off 4 handicap with 64 and the day's best scratch score. D Shaw placed second with 1 under par after 44 and 40. Twenty four players started with many events and mixed foursomes completing the day.

Inland highway plan moves long distance rail line
The Department of Main Roads reports major constriction of more than half of the inland highway across New South Wales from Tocumwal to the Queensland border. The death occurred in Dubbo under distressing circumstances of Mrs Ruby Lillian Trinks wife of Con stable Percy Trinka of Darling Street aged 46. She felt ill and went to a Brisbane Street store at about 1 30 p m to make purchases. On returning home she collapsed on the footpath. A doctor pronounced life extinct. Mrs Trinks was born at Narrandera and had lived in Dubbo six years. She took an active interest in tennis and social affairs and was held in high esteem.

Gilgandra Light Horse Troop Rifle Shoot Concludes Prize Awards
The Gilgandra Light Horse Troop held a rifle contest for best six shots over 400 yards with prizes of 10 shillings for best rifle score and 10 shillings for best handicap score. Lieut. G C McKellar had the best rifle score but was ineligible. Trooper D McAllister won the rifle prize and Corporal R Stanley the handicap prize. A shoot over 600 and 600 yards is planned for Sunday with bivouac arrangements on Show Ground on the 15th 7th 15th and 16th July.
