Gettysburg Lions Present A Check For 1300 To United Fund

Gettysburg Lions presented a 1300 check to the Adams County United Fund at a club meeting. J Herbert Welkert received a 35 year attendance pin and other honors were handed to Kenneth Dengler and George Faw. District Governor Baldwin urged service as the club announced fundraisers and grants to various local groups.

Community Concert Group Opens Annual Campaign Today

The Adams County Community Concert Association kicks off its membership drive with a kickoff dinner at the Dobbin House attended by board members and workers. Campaign hours run at the YWCA from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. MembershipBorn tickets unlock 4 local concerts in Gettysburg plus 16 more nearby. Featured artists include the New York Renaissance Band, David Golub, the Tamburitzans, and Elizabeth Hynes.

Zoning Board Hears Plans To Use Property As Office

The Gettysburg Borough Zoning Board considered Ronald Pack and Alan Patrono plans to convert the Robert Zeigler house at 34 Locust St into office space with up to eight workers and a three room apartment. Opposed resident Mrs. Edward Bullett cited traffic and street crowding. Pack and Patrono argued traffic would be minimal and parking could be added behind the carriage house. The board will notify the parties of its decision. the meeting closed to the public after the hearing.

James Aumen Dies Former Fire Chief Here

James Aumen 75 of Littlestown died Monday after noon at home. Born in Gettysburg he was fire chief for 16 years and a life member of the Gettysburg Fire Department. He taught at the Blue Parrot Tea Room 1944 to 35 and worked at the Adams County Public Library the last 15 years. Survived by his wife Lot tie M Staley and son Richard Hanover. Inflation Fueled by Housing and Medical Costs in August

The Labor Department reported a 1.6 percent rise in consumer prices for August driven by housing and medical costs.
