Cramer Stars At L Town Hunting And Fishing Fete

Several hundred sporting enthusiasts attended the National Hunting and Fishing Day event at Littlestown Fish and Game Club grounds. Demonstrations included archery by a pre world national and state champion with Don Hankey and Paul Wolfe of Gettysburg, pistol handling by John L. Moore of New Oxford, fly casting by Warren Singer, and trapping equipment exhibits. The Pirania Fish and Game Commission had display booths.

A Gettysburg High School student Betty Irvin began in 1936 a letter writing project with Ruth Scout now Ruth Scott Wisler that linked her to England. After 42 years she finally met the pen pal through a six hour flight to a woman she knew only by letters.

Outdoor Antique Show At Gettysburg Draws 25000 Crowd

More than 25 000 people swarmed downtown Gettysburg for the Second Eleventh Semi Annual Outdoor Antique Show on Saturday. Wayne Schultz the show manager praised cooperative townspeople merchants and the weatherman noting the event was the best on the East Coast. About 1000 in profit was earned from rental spaces for dealers funding Christmas decorations.

Nun Is Guarded After Accident In Emmitsburg Grounds

Sister Mary Soorrer aged 65 a Daughter of Charity was admitted to Warner Hospital after her car ran in reverse on the St Joseph Provincial House grounds in Emmitsburg at 630 pm Sunday. Firemen and State Police assisted at the scene and she was taken by VFW ambulance with multiple injuries.

Three Hurt In Auto Crash Near Zara

Report states three people were injured when a Ford Thunderbird collided with another vehicle five miles west of Zara on a rural road. Firemen and ambulances treated victims before release. details on names and exact injuries were not fully clear.

Two Motorists Escape Injury In Weekend Crashes

Two motorists escaped injuries in weekend stage car accidents on county roads. Ray Swartz, 43, of Hanover RB. 2, reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and his 1973 Volvo wagon ran off Rt. 116, flipping onto its side near Neuberville. firemen treated the scene and damage was extensive. Howard Dorsey, 28, of Gettysburg R. 3, also apparently fell asleep driving westbound, crossing Rt. 30 and veering off the south berm into a telephone pole. his 1976 Dodge sustained moderate damage and Gettysburg firemen cleaned the area.

Lady Leads Nominations Workshop at Delta Kappa Gamma Event

Mrs Lady of Biglerville conducted a nominations workshop at the Alpha Alpha State Fall Area Conference of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International held at Everett Pan Area High School. Attendees included Mrs Dayhoff and Miss Large from Omega chapter with several other workshops and reports on World Fellowship and international conventions.

Gettysburg College approves bids for new library learning resources center

The Gettysburg College Board of Trustees authorized administration to solicit bids for a new library learning resources center on campus. The project, to be built near the center of the campus between Pennsylvania Hall and Gloucester Hall, would replace Schmueser Library with space for the arts and education departments. The board also approved a supplemental retirement annuity program for staff.

Dobbin House Rededication in Gettysburg Honors Early Builders

Descendants of Alexander Dobbin and James Gettys gathered in Gettysburg on Saturday to rededicate the Dobbin House on Steinwehr Avenue. The event recalled Rev. Dobbin’s 1773–1776 construction, the pair’s role in making Gettysburg the county seat, and a 1776 Presbyterian dedication service. The house, once Dobbin’s home and the first classical school west of the Susquehanna, is now a restaurant tavern operated by local owners Attorney John White and Mr. and Mrs. A Kenneth Dick.
