Dr. Charles H. Giatfelter of Gettysburg College and U S Senate Chaplain Edward Elson will be guest speakers at a ceremony Oct 13 marking Eisenhower's 88th birthday. Events include a wreath laying at the Eisenhower Statue, remarks by Charles W. Wolf, music by Gettysburg College ensembles, and an 11 a m convocation in the College Union Ballroom with Dr Elson delivering a benediction and remarks on Eisenhower remembered. Elson has 36 years in Washington service and 26 years as pastor of the National Presbyterian Church. Giatfelter has 30 years at Gettysburg College.

Alma Mater Writer Die s Acknowledged Leader in Lutheran Church
The Rev Dr. Reinartz, 77, Gettysburg College 1924 alumnus who helped write the Alma Mater, became first secretary for promotion of the Lutheran Church in America and a seminary president. He died last Thursday at the Lowman home in White Rock South Carolina. Funeral was held Saturday at St Paul’s Lutheran Church Columbia South Carolina and burial followed. This obituary traces his Protestant lineage and early work, noting ties to Elizabeth Huppertz and the first Protestant hospitals. He was born in East Liverpool Ohio and earned Phi Beta Kappa honors, led college debate and track, and composed Gettysburg’s alma mater. He studied at Harvard and Luther Seminary Philadelphia, earning BDiv 1932 and S.T.M. 1934.

Leaps From Truck Before It Burns
A New Oxford man escaped serious injury by jumping from a dump truck before it overturned three miles northeast at 700 Rd and Rt 99 Monday afternoon. Alan Yost, 18, of Emmett Street, New Oxford, was treated at Hanover Hospital for facial cuts and neck injuries and released. State police said Yost attempted to pass on the right of a turning vehicle as the truck went off the road, struck guard rails, and overturned. The fire was put out by New Oxford Police. The truck, owned by D K Hershey Co, Hanover, was valued at 8000 and destroyed by crash and fire.
