Pa Heart Marathon To Be Here On Tuesday
Gettysburg Tuesday and Wednesday will host the second set of marathon runners within four days. More than 500 runners took part in the first annual Historic Gettysburg Marathons sponsored by the Gettysburg Chamber of Commerce. Local chairman David Lovett will share in carrying the American Heart Association torch across the state as runners depart Tuesday morning and arrive in Pittsburgh by Saturday.

Dr. Chester Simonton Dies in York After Long Clerical Career
Rev. Dr. Chester Stewart Simonton, longtime pastor and college trustee, died at his York home after a storied ministry. Ordained in 1919, he led York area congregations, served as interim pastor post retirement, and held key roles with Gettysburg College, Gettysburg Seminary, Luther League of America, and York Lutheran Social Services. He received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Gettysburg College in 1996. survived by wife Helen, a son Rev. Donald C. Semese Kelly, two daughters, and a sister.

Raymond C. Siniawski, president of the Steel Valley Council of Governments, took office at a PACOG banquet in Gettysburg. Donald R. Moul received the 1978 Leadership Award for his service.
