Rock Chapel marks 212th anniversary with service

September Heat Records Hit Gettysburg Hottest Since 1983

Thursday's high reached 91 degrees at Gettysburg, the hottest in September since 1983 and the Eisenhower farm station logged 89 on Wednesday. The longest history shows a 102-degree day on Sept 3, 1953, and a 100-degree day on Sept 8, 1939. The chilliest September was 1963 at two below zero. This week’s heat nearly matched the summer high of 92 degrees set in July and mid August.
