Mt St Marys Seminary names Rev Msgr Richard McGuiness rector

Rev Msgr Richard M McGuiness 53 appointed rector of Mt St Marys Seminary succeeding Rev Harry J Flynn who served since 1969 and will return to pastoral work in Albany NY. The selection followed a blue ribbon committee including students faculty and diocesan representatives. McGuiness previously led St Josephs Church Newark and was lauded for academic pastoral and diaconate work.

World Community Day Rite At Bethel Mennonite Church

Migrant Camp Trailer Burns Near Fairfield

A migrant camp trailer at Strausbaugh Fruit Farm on Cold Springs Road north of Fairfield burned at 7 p.m. Monday. Firefighters from Fairfield and Cashtown moved the flaming structure away from two large migrant housing complexes to prevent spread. No occupants were reported, but personal belongings were lost. Oil stove likely caused the fire. workers were temporarily housed in the camp main building. Teenager Hurts Slightly When Car Flips on Rt 234

A 17 year old driver, Michael J. McCartney of Bendersville, escaped with a leg injury after his 1967 Mercury Cougar overturned off Rt 234 near Biglerville at 8 20 p m. Passenger Michael W. Rinehart, 22, of Aspers R 1, was uninjured. Firemen aided at the scene. Police also investigated a hit and run on Rt 94 near York Springs earlier that day, description of the fleeing vehicle not released.
