Five Division Halloween Parade Set for Tuesday at 7 30 PM
A five division Halloween parade through Gettysburg is scheduled for Tuesday evening starting at 7 30 with formation at the Fabric Center Parking lot on Spring Ave. Pre registered units assemble from 6 45 PM and are assigned parade places. The procession moves along Chambersburg Street to Lincoln Square then Baltimore Street and West Middle Street ending behind the Fabric Center lot. The first division forms on Spring Ave first block and includes the parade marshal, Army ROTC color guard from Gettysburg College, Gettysburg High School band, Arendisville Fire Co queen, a FCC float, U S Army Reserve, Fairfield High School band, and other units. The second division forms on the second block of Spring Ave with the Biglerville High School Band, a New Oxford church youth float, Brownie group, Littlestown High School Senior Class float, the Lyric Band of Hanover, and more. Open to 16 to 23 year olds unemployed, the program began in 1977 and runs up to 12 months with possible reemployment. it has placed around 200 enrollees in better jobs. Youthful Offenders Unit To Reorganize
The Youthful Offenders Citizen Committee will reorganize November 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the second floor courtroom of the county courthouse in Baltimore Street Adams County. Mrs. Linda Hammer of the probation office invites interested persons to attend. The group will review future actions and has produced a video with local law enforcement and citizens to inform the public about juvenile crime. The committee also acts as resource to the Probation Office and works to establish a county Shelter Care Facility for status offenders.
