Two Bicycles Stolen In Gettysburg Borough
Gettysburg Borough Police reported two 10 speed Peugoot bicycles stolen Monday and today involving Gettysburg College student James Purcell and Kay Spriggs both from Gettysburg Ri Spriggs bicycle valued at 180 dollars. Police also noted a car truck collision at 430 PM Monday with motorists Barbara Fissel Orrianna and Jill N Coleman of Biglerville Minor damages. A set of keys found outside Zerfing's Hardware on Baltimore Street were turned in and can be claimed at the police station with proper ID.

Two People Injured In Three Auto Accidents Monday
State police investigated three crashes Monday with two injuries. A 8:40 a.m. crash on Rt 234 near Arendtsville sent an unnamed woman to the hospital after a pole struck her car. Arendtsville firemen assisted. At 9:33 p.m. a 19 year old from Lake Heritage, David Fox, rolled his 1977 Datsun on Mummasburg Road. he declined treatment. A 5:05 p.m. crash on Rt 116 near Brushtown between a 1975 International truck and a 1969 Pontiac left no injuries.

Fire Kills as Gas Line Explodes Near Houston Suburb
An early morning gas pipeline blast near a mobile home park in Brookside Village Texas caused a spectacular fire seen for 30 miles. At least five people were killed and 40 injured with the fire ending about three hours after the explosion. Authorities feared higher death tolls as wrecked trailer homes were inspected. Lt. Tom Thacker of Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department said five bodies were found in a nearby field and it appeared victims were fleeing the scene. Cause of death not known. Witnesses called the blast like an atomic bomb.

Firemen saved most of a combined work and recreation room in a converted garage behind Ward McCreary’s home on Hanover Street at 11 49 a m Monday. Firefighters confined the work room but the linked recreation area suffered severe heat and smoke damage. Cause is under investigation with damage estimated from 3000 to 4000 dollars.
