The Pennsylvania State Police launch Bear in the Air to trap speeding motorists using helicopters and stop watches. Trooper Edward Heromin, an 11 year veteran, trains as observer in a Ranger Helicopter alongside six other troopers from Troop H. Change Courthouse Completion Date

Construction of the Adams County Courthouse will finish in the first or second week of November. Frank Intrert of Lambert and Intrert said after a conference with county commissioners, architect Harold Frederick, building supervisor Wayne Cluck, and several subcontractors. He had previously projected Oct 31 or early November if delays continued. The next job conference is scheduled for November.

1,260 Republican Majority Is Listed

The county election board reports a larger voting pool for the November general election in Adams County with 35,724 potential voters, up about 123 from last year. Republicans number 12,929, Democrats 7,467, and nonpartisans 1,101, with growth across all groups since the primary. The population includes 13 Constitutionalists, 12 American Independents, and four Libertarians, while Libertarian and Independent parties show little change. Over 700 residents registered between May and Oct 10, and about 200 died or left the county.

Retired Upper Adams School superintendent Donald B Hudson discussed Pennsylvania angling during a Gettysburg Adams Torch Club talk at the YWCA. State police report a vandalism incident near Allen Werkert Egg Farm on Rt 16 Highland Two. A passing car fired five shots around 11 30 pm Wednesday, four hitting an egg sign, one striking the Weikert home. Investigation continues.
