Littlestown School District wins bid for 250000 tax note

The Littlestown Area School District board announced National Central Bank of Hanover won the tax anticipation note bidding at 4.75 percent, with the note reinvested in a 30 day deposit at 8.6 percent. Cars, resignations, staff changes, and new hires followed.

Cancer Awareness Day Planned In Adams County Event

A Cancer Awareness Day program set for October 2 at the Church of the Brethren Fellowship Hall will feature Sgt Eugene Cahalan a laryngectomee and 17 year State Police veteran as a speaker. Harold Bowser chairs Adams County ACS PR. Mary Ramedia a speech pathologist will also speak. The event begins at 10 a.m. with a panel of seven Adams County physicians discussing cancer causes treatment and cure.

John Kaiser Dies Veteran of World War I

John E Kaiser 83 of New Oxford Route 3 died Monday at Hanover Hospital after a 10 day stay. A WWI veteran who served with the 74th Aero Squadron and the 486th in France he was a longtime caretaker of St Marys Cemetery and a member of local Legion post. Surviving are three daughters two sons and many grandchildren. Funeral Friday at 8:30 am with Mass at Immaculate Conception Church New Oxford burial at St Marys Cemetery. Donations to St Marys Cemetery or grotto care requested.

Littlestown Crop Walk Raises $3600 With Parade of Events

About 170 walkers joined the Crop Walk for Hunger in Littlestown sponsored by the Littlestown Ministerium. A parachute exhibition by the National Guard Jump Team from Indiantown Gap preceded the hike. Fire Co and ambulance crews guided the crowd while first aid was provided by the 316 Station Hospital unit. Co-chairs were Rev. Ted Bowers and Marylin Zanger.
