Fred H Sanders 73 Gettysburg Baker Dies After Long Service
Fred H Sanders of Gettysburg a longtime local baker and former manager and owner of Hennigs Bakery on York Street died Sunday after five weeks in Warner Hospital. A United Methodist Church member, Lions Club lifer and Gettysburg Fire Co. life member, he taught Sunday School and led the men’s class for 30 years. Survived by wife Margaret and two daughters, services set for Wednesday at Monahan Funeral Home with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.

Fire Destroys Bank Barn At York Springs
Fire ravaged a large bank barn on the Robinson Salvage Co property at York Springs routing flames through Mudd Run Rd in Latimore Township. Owner Robert Robinson was taken to Hanover Hospital for shock. a large quantity of auto parts and a vehicle were lost. Firefighters from York Springs and nearby departments battled the blaze for hours, with investigations into cause led by Adams County Fire Marshal John W Murren.

Thomas E Piper of Gettysburg will receive the 1972 Master Educator Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Farmer Cooperatives at PAFC’s Oct 18 meeting in Gettysburg. He will also attend the Armenian Institute of Cooperation meeting in Montana in July.
