Ninth Annual Eisenhower Society Observance Friday

The Eisenhower Society begins its ninth annual observance Friday at 10 30 am with a wreath laying at the Eisenhower statue on Gettysburg College campus 300 Carlisle St. Dr Charles R Glatfelter will speak on Gen Eisenhower at Gettysburg College and a convocation follows in the College Union Building with U S Senate Chaplain Dr Edward L R Elson delivering a keynote. Several hundred high school seniors are expected and honorary life membership will be awarded to Dr Elson.

Need Tutors In County To Teach English

Woman Sues Tax Bureau Over Land Sale Notice

Wellsville Pennsylvania executor Joyce E Goldenberg sues Adams County Tax Claims Bureau and Al Christensen of Fairfield claiming she never received advance notice of a September 1978 public sale of estate land in Cumberland Township. She alleges notices to a deceased party were misdirected, sale posting failed, and seeks to overturn the purported sale and bar Christensen from using the land during litigation.

Fire Prevention Program Tonight in Gettysburg

The Gettysburg Fire Department holds its annual fire prevention program and open house at the fire hall on York Street starting at 6 PM for National Fire Prevention Week. Firefighters will perform a vehicle rescue demo in the parking lot between 6:30 and 7 PM. Nine pieces of equipment and two ambulances will be displayed. Public invited.

Herbert G. Raab of Biglerville won duplicate prizes with four Black Cochins at Shenandoah Valley Poultry Club in Woodstock Virginia and Hagerstown Poultry Association in Maryland. Mt St Marys College and Seminary prepares for a four day Homecoming in October 1910 22 with the dedication of three new cornerstones at the 329 unit student housing complex and the rededication of the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. Apple Queen hopefuls gather for 1978 contest weekend

Fifteen contestants from across the nation compete for the Miss Apple Queen USA title during the Apple Harvest Festival at the South Mountain Fairgrounds near Arendtsville. Eastern and Western New York entries include Nancy Eger of Hudson and Kymberly Barto of Marion, with contestants from Arkansas and Pennsylvania also participating. The event culminating in the 11th annual Apple Harvest Ball begins at 7 30 p m at the Gettysburg Sheraton Inn.
