Baltimore couple returned from Canada and Detroit on their honeymoon when the driver Otton Backhaus fell asleep at 23 struck an embankment and rolled. Both were hospitalized with cuts and bruises and Backhaus faces a reckless driving charge. The bride, 20, had a scalp laceration treated with stitches.

An 11 year old boy, Francis X. Eberhart, hauled a 21 inch bass weighing 4 pounds 5 ounces from Biaish Creek near the Gettysburg water works. The fish measured 22 inches long and 16 inches in girth, taken with a six inch lure. It was frozen in ice and displayed by Gettysburg Ice and Storage Company.

Itinerant Man Killed by Reading Freight Near Mt Holly
An unidentified itinerant man, about 45 to 50 years old, was struck and killed by a Reading freight train near Mt Holly Springs while traveling the Mt Holly to Gettysburg line. Coroner Haegele of Cumberland County said the man had a dark complexion, was about 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighed around 192 pounds, and was well dressed. Residents recalled he had been in the town for three days, bought seeds, spoke little, and claimed to have served in the Army during the war. The train's crew reported the fatality occurred around 1:00 a.m. A later westbound train found the body after 6 a.m. Fingerprints were sent to Washington for identification, possibly matching Army records.

Pair Killed At Chambersburg RR Crossing
Franklin County Coroner A W Thrush opened an inquest into a fatal automobile train collision in Chambersburg. George D Keefer 14 and his housekeeper Mrs Anna North 55 died when Keefer’s car was struck on the Washington street crossing by a westbound freight train. Keefer’s body lay north of the track and Mrs North’s body was recovered from a car section after it fell into Conocoheague creek. Eyewitnesses described a slow approach to the crossing and the car entering the track as the engine approached. The coroner noted the accident occurred about 10 15 PM and said the inquest time is to be fixed. Keefer’s wife had died in 1928 in a similar crash near Cash town.
