Extension Homemakers present a Holiday Tea on Tuesday December 5 at the Presbyterian Church Gettysburg with two sessions at 1 30 and 7 30 pm. Helen Overs and Freda Baker of McConnellsburg will speak while Dot Newman and Anna Gilbert head afternoon and evening chairs respectively. Various local homemakers groups provide hospitality and cleanup duties with a carousing preceding the program and a host of volunteers coordinating the event.

Fire erupts at Round Hit Turkey Farm near Hampton
A heater fire damaged a 200 by 40 foot turkey house at Round Hit Turkey Farm owned by Thomas Bross near Hampton. Firefighters from Hampton York Springs Heidlersburg and East Berlin contained the blaze after about two hours as smoke filled the structure and damaged three brooder heaters and several beams.

Woman's Appeal Denied in Adams County Hospital Bills Case
The stateSuperior Court upheld a 1977 ruling finding Theresa E Alexander liable for 528280 in medical bills after a December 1969 birth and three months of care for her newborn. The May 18 1977 opinion by Judge John A MacPhail also held her estranged husband Lewis liable.

Tree Keeps Vehicle From River Plunge Near Emmitsburg
Maryland State Police report an accident on Route 97 east of Emmitsburg near the Monocracy River. A car ran off a sharp curve, struck a tree and guard rail, and was stopped from plunging into the river by the tree. Occupants reportedly from Pennsylvania received on scene treatment by Taneytown EMS. Fire crews from Emmitsburg and Taneytown assisted at the scene.

Dor Warner Chevrolet Buick Inc filed an appeal in the 5 Superior Court on March 31, challenging a jury verdict that awarded Robert Yingling 34,500 for refusing to honor a sales contract. Yingling had ordered a limited edition 1976 Corvette in December 1977, paid 256 down, and accused the dealer of not delivering the car, with damages based on the price gap and later market value. The Corvette was valued at about 20,080 in April 1878 by a Corvette expert.

Adams County fire crews aided two crashes in nearby York County. Abbottstown Hremen helped at a single vehicle crash at Maple Grove and Pine Roads in Paradise Two. York County police cited Mark D Garrett of Hanover for a curve collision damaging his 1965 Ford. East Berlin units were sent to a second single vehicle wreck but cancelled before arrival with no injuries.

Burglar Steals RCA TV From Keefauver School
A burglar stole an XL 100 solid state RCA color television valued at about 600 dollars from Keefauver School between 4:00 and 6:39 a.m. Wednesday. Entry was gained by breaking a lower right door window pane on the east end. Gettysburg Borough Police and Cumberland Township Police investigate.
