Christmas Concert Set for Christ Chapel at Gettysburg College

Gettysburg College Chapel Choir and College Choir present their annual Christmas Concert on December 1 and 2 at Christ Chapel begin 8 p.m. each night free to the public. Hanover String Quartet plus guests will accompany with Larsen Ringstanza and a program of Handel, Hammerschmidt, Bach, Berger, Fearing and Schreck pieces. Soloists include Jill Test, Michell Martin, Jill Graham, and Stephen Buckwalter. Directors are Kermit Finstad and Michael Matsinko. Audience participation encouraged for Advent carols.

Demolition Okayed for Gettysburg Ag Hall Known as Green Monster

Gettysburg Historic Architectural Review Board unanimously approves demolition of the 1867 68 Agricultural Hall at West High and South Franklin for sale to Adams County Housing to build low income housing. Powell resigns as HARB chairman in Gettysburg move

Dr. Walter L. Powell steps down as chairman of the Gettysburg Historic Architectural Review Board to become the borough grants administrator and preservation officer a full time borough employee. He will join the board as a paid member while Larry Weikert remains code enforcement officer. Powell will help streamline HARB reviews and clarify issues for applicants and board members. The board must elect a new chairman at January’s meeting.

Gettysburg Historic Pathway Plan Discussed by Task Force

Gettysburg Historic Pathway Task Force met in the GAR building to outline goals linking Gettysburg College Lincoln Square Baltimore Street areas and the tourist zone. Borough officials and the National Park Service discussed five emphasis areas and integration strategies for the historic and cultural resources. The Holiday Bureau opens its office for toy and cash donations, with distribution set for December 8.
