Night launch sends Mexico satellite into orbit
Atlantis astronauts deployed a 4.42 million dollar Mexican communications satellite damaged by an earthquake and unusable ground facilities for four years. Rodolfo Neri, Mexico's first astronaut, observed the deployment and will lead experiments with Mexican scientists during a weeklong mission to launch three satellites and test space station concepts while performing various research tasks.

Egypt seeks extradition of Egyptair hijacker survivor
Egypt has formally asked Malta to extradite Omar Marzouki the surviving hijacker of the Egyptair flight to Cairo for trial under Egyptian law. Maltese officials say he is the only survivor among the gunmen who seized the Athens to Cairo flight. 58 others died when commandos stormed the plane. In Athens a car bomb killed one police officer and wounded four as unrest followed the earlier death of a teen during clashes with police.
