Hunter Dies While Hunting Near Huntington Two
Smethport resident M Smder, 42, died Saturday afternoon while hunting in a wooded area near Huntington Two by Idaville. Deputy coroner Dr. Leah Mant and Dr Maitland will determine the cause after autopsy. Born in Hanover, son of Grace Hogue Snider and the late Clay Snyder, he was a US Army veteran and member of the First United Methodist Church.

Santa Arrives by Tram in Gettysburg Friday

Robert Radbill, Christmas program chairman for the Gettysburg Retail Merchants Association, notes holiday hours: Nov 24 3 am to 9 pm, Nov 25 9 am to 9 pm, Dec 4 to Dec 23 9 am to 9 pm, with stores open 9 am to 9 pm. Couple Left Homeless After Fire Near Cashtown
A Sunday fire gutted the 2 story home of Jeffery and Donna Spalding off Church Road, caused by a faulty wood stove pipe installation. Cashtown firemen, aided by Arendtsville, Fayetteville and Biglerville units, fought flames for over two hours. The couple, who had moved in two months ago, lost all possessions and are staying with relatives while a clothing drive collects men’s and women’s sizes for immediate aid.

York Springs Driver Hurt in Front-porch Crash
A York Springs woman was hospitalized in guarded condition at Hanover Hospital after her 1977 Chevrolet ran off Centennial Road and struck the front of an unoccupied house near Heidlersburg. She was extricated after about 44 minutes by York Springs firefighters with help from Biglerville and New Oxford units. The house owner Paulie Wonder sustained no injuries.
