Donald Rebert Dies Thursday
Donald Rebert of 27 Rahim Street, a former Gettisburg borough councilman, died Thursday evening at Bethesda Health. He first served from January 2, 1954, a four year term, and was reelected until resigning in 1959 due to work schedule. He returned January 1972 for another four year term and resigned in September 1981 for health reasons. He served as Third Ward liaison with the Recreation Board and supported the Steimwehr Avenue beautification. A World War II veteran, he worked for Shenfi Bernard V Killer milk hauling and Adams Counts Novelty Co. He was a member of the American Legion. Continued on Page 2.

The Gettysburg Civil War Round Table will place a plaque Saturday at 1 PM at the Bathmore Street sycamore tree entrance to Gettysburg High School grounds. The tree, seen by Lincoln on his way to the cemetery dedication, is one of the few surviving living links to that era with photographs from the period. Sebastian Hafer will MC. Rev Dr MacAskill will give the invocation. Roger Mulien and Loren Shunz will speak on Civil War notes and local history. James Gets or Dr Curtis will portray Lincoln. Dr Beach will give brief remarks and the ceremony closes with a benediction.

Detour on Mummasburg Road for Rail Crossing Work
A section of Mummasburg Road about half a mile northwest of Gettysburg will close dawn to dusk Saturday November 17 for railroad crossing repairs. The Gettysburg Railroad will rebuild a one track grade crossing. A detour will be posted via Carlisle Road and Heirs Ridge Road, with about five miles distance and an estimated one day to complete. Mummasburg Road in Cumberland handles about 1,300 vehicles per day.

Adams County Courthouse set for pre final inspection
Architect Harold Frederick fixed November 28 as the pre final inspection date for the Adams County Coin House, despite contractor Lambert & Intreri claiming readiness by next Tuesday. Frederick said closer completion is better and noted ongoing work in courtrooms boiler room and parking lots with some electrical and telephone tasks. Deliveries from Reliable Office Equipment may be delayed a week. The pre final will be conducted by county commissioners, contractors, the consulting firm Fitson Minnich, an industry rep, and county supervisor Wayne Cluck, with final inspections possible in one to two weeks.

A plan to shrink Adams County magisterial districts from five to four has been filed in Gettysburg and will be open for public inspection until December 4. Objections must be filed with the prothonotary’s office by 9 a.m. that day. Initiated by Judge Oscar F. Spicer after the resignation of Magistrate Carroll T. Khimk, the new First District will cover Gettysburg Borough Cumberland Township Streban Township and Meroy Township with Donald G. Weaver serving. The current First District includes Cumberland and Butler Townships Gettysburg Borough and Biglerville Borough.

Warner Board Okays Plan And A New Position
Members of the Amie M. Warner Hospital board approved a development plan and created an administrative position at their meeting Thursday night. The plan, prepared by Health Planning and Development of Princeton NJ, envisages improvements to the hospital’s physical plant. The board will have Ernst and Ernst begin a financial feasibility study and Health Planning will assist administrator William D. Myers in developing a certificate of need for the regional planning agency. The new administrator will be titled director of support services and will serve as an administrative assistant to Myers while directing operations of certain hospital apartments.
