In Adams County Wolfe narrowly defeats incumbent Cole with key precinct wins in Menallen Township and Littlestown. Wolfe carries Carroll Valley and Highland Township while observers note limited negative campaigning and a close overall result. Cole cites 6000 vote potential and 53 committees in the race.

Adams County sets turnout record in Cole Wolfe race

The Cole Wolfe contest for Adams County’s Pa House seat drew 69 percent turnout, a county record for a non presidential election. 20,159 of 29,364 registered voters voted across 51 precincts, with Arendtsville 81 percent and Reading Township 2 at 54 percent. Republicans outnumber Democrats 16,530 to 11,304.

Franklin Township rejects five supervisor plan 891-229

Franklin Township voters defeated a ballot measure to expand the board from three to five supervisors 891 to 229 with 100 percent of precincts reporting. Supporters argued it would help track changing laws. opponents warned of higher costs and no added governance. The change would have taken effect in 1992 after a petition drive.

Casey wins Pennsylvania governor race in landslide

Gov. Robert P. Casey swept to a 68 percent victory over Barbara Hafer, carrying 66 of 67 counties and winning Adams County by a 9,264 to 3,720 margin. Broujos Wins Re election to Fifth Term in 199th District

Rep. John H. Broujos, Democrat incumbent for the 199th District, defeats Republican Ron Turro in Adams Cumberland and York counties. Broujos secures 1 453 1 114 votes in Adams 5 073 2 558 in Cumberland and 3 160 2 277 in York to win another two year term.
