Woman sues over stroke linked to birth control pills

A 23-year-old woman, Pegey Scherz Withers, won a $218,963 judgment against Dr James R. Dodds for prescribing pills after she had a history of phlebitis. Justice Albert Malouf ruled the error occurred in Quebec Superior Court.

Midwest women seek 3.5 million for Atlanta children respite

A group of mainly professional women plans to raise 3.5 million to help Atlanta children escape the city’s violence. Funds would send kids to camps or cover travel costs to relatives outside Atlanta. Authorities reported related incidents across the nation including a crane rescue, a bus crash, and a grain silo collapse with fatalities.

Two fatalities and injuries from separate Pennsylvania incidents

In EAST NORRITON Montgomery County a still unidentified boy aged 10 to 14 died in a fire at Norristown State Hospital with autopsy set to determine identity. In YORK HAVEN a 12 year old boy died and seven others injured when a race car veered into a pit after being struck, a 10 year old girl hospitalized in serious condition. Virginia Liddick co owner described the incident at Susquehanna Speedway during a powder event heat.

Mother of missing man reports phone call from him

A 22 year old described as retarded black man Ronald Crawford told his mother by phone he was working near Augusta and picking peaches in eastern Georgia. The missing man’s case was added to a task force probe into 28 slayings since July 1979 and one disappearance. The task force declined to release details yet.

Gettysburg College Acquires Cranach Luther Portrait

Gettysburg College received an original 1547 Luther portrait from Lucas Cranach the Elder workshop. The 13 by 14 inch oil had been housed at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston for 66 years after being willed by John Henry Wilburn Stuckenberg. the college traced ownership through his widow Mary Stuckenberg.
