Adams County nurses gain shift premium at Green Acres Home
Adams County Salary Board voted to raise pay for second shift nurses at Green Acres Home in Gettysburg. LPNs gain $2.70 hourly, RNs $2.60, boosting average shift pay from about $10 to higher, aiming to attract and retain staff amid a countywide nursing shortage. Adams County Commissioners voted to hire Tracy Sheffer as legal clerk for Judge Spicer and Judge Kuhn at $10 per hour, with possible full-time status next year. They proclaimed 1990 the 70th Anniversary Year of Gettysburg Hospital Auxiliary and sought signatures for $90,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds for Biglerville Borough. They applied for Victims of Crimes Act funds for 1991 and filled the Victim/Witness Coordinator post effective May 7 after Bernard Yannetti left for the prison warden job. A bid for prison uniforms and gear was awarded to Suburban Uniform Co. of Westminster, Maryland for $5,307.50.
