Littlestown School Board approves a tentative 4,070,368 budget with a 5.7 percent spending rise and a new 13 percent occupation assessment tax, replacing the current flat rate. The board moved to larger quarters for about 60 speakers detailing budget concerns and tax impacts.
More than a dozen residents packed a supervisors meeting petitioning police action against the Hide Away Inn on Route 30 east of Cross Keys for weekend noise and rowdy patrons. They alleged gunshots in the parking lot and feared for families. Officials offered no immediate action, citing enforcement challenges and inability to identify violators.
Oxford Township Police Officer Leroy Klinefelter resigned as assistant chief on May 17 amid charges of unbecoming conduct and misuse of the township phone. He disputed claims by residents Daniel Sullivan and Ann Leatherman, saying the accusations were false and that he was not in town for many contested calls. He turned in his radio and badges to Chairman William Smith, who acknowledged the loss of a valued officer.
