After 17 days on strike the Littlestown and New Oxford LEA leaders and school board discussed a return to work proposal but no decision. A general meeting for a vote was not scheduled yet. If accepted, three two hour sessions would occur plus further talks before June 27 PLRB hearing. Senior trip plans to New York City were discussed as the high school remained closed.

Emmitsburg Resident Burned in Steam Hose Incident
An Emmitsburg resident and five others were treated in a hospital dispensary for injuries from a steam hose disconnect at the Duffy Mott plant in Aspers on Thursday. Nadine Sanders, 56, was in satisfactory condition with a right leg injury after falling at her home. Warren Kauffman, 17, suffered burns to the left thigh abdomen and right shoulder. Randy Witt, 19, had a right foot injury. Alexis Pack, 2, and Susan Smith, 4, both sustained minor foot and shoulder injuries.

Ruth Eckert Dies at 89 in Gettysburg

Religious Census To Be Held Here In Gettysburg
The Gettysburg Ministerium will sponsor a religious census in Gettysburg on two Sundays, June 10 and June 17. A planning session is set for Sunday at 2 PM in the Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. Each church selects two representatives for the steering committee to enlist personnel for the census. Plans include county cooperation with the Adams County Sabbath School Association.

Boy Hit by Car In Harrisburg Hospitalized In Serious Condition
George Tolbert Jr. eight, of Hunterstown Road, was struck by a car while bicycling Monday evening. He arrived at Harrisburg hospital in serious condition and underwent head surgery for a fractured skull and broken leg. His father reports some improvement as he remains in the Intensive Care Unit and responds to treatment.

Burglars Hit Five York Springs Area Stores Overnight
State police probe five burglaries in York Springs and nearby towns East Berlin and New Oxford.
