Gettysburg Borough Council voted unanimously to keep the courthouse at its Baltimore Street location and tear down the E Middle Street firehouse to build a 40 car municipal parking lot. They urged county commissioners to retain the courthouse as an operating unit downtown, noting removal would harm historical value and economy. The fire department will receive 2500 to rebuild pumps and buy equipment, funded from borough revenue sharing.

Cumberland Two supervisors approved a 500 payment to Gettysburg Recreation Department and a 2000 July payment to the Rec Board. Four people were injured in five county road accidents probed by state police. George Tolbert Jr. age 8 of Gettysburg R4 was listed in serious to critical condition after his bicycle was struck by a car on Hunterstown Road near his home. He was treated for a possible concussion and a fractured left leg before transfer to Harrisburg General Hospital.

The Gettysburg Friends Meeting joined the Baltimore Yearly Meeting of Friends on Sunday after a welcoming committee from the Yearly Meeting formalized the affiliation at Hatter's Planetarium Gettysburg College.
