Bay commission calls for tougher pollution enforcement
The Chesapeake Bay Commission ended its two day Adams County meeting with a resolution backing a 50 percent cut in significant non compliance and full adherence to federal Bay pollution mandates by Jan 1 1991. It urged aggressive action across Maryland Pennsylvania Virginia and DC to curb nutrient loads and discharges from about 4 000 minor and 400 major polluters.

Four charged in Adams County burglary spree
State police report a 19 year old Toby Michael Kennedy of New Oxford and three unnamed juveniles were charged with a string of burglaries across Penn Township East Berlin Oxford and Straban Townships between April 19 and May 1. About $25000 worth of stolen property was recovered. Kennedy faces 19 counts including nine burglaries and ten thefts. He is jailed on $50000 bail. The juveniles were released to parents or placed in youth detention.
