Cable TV plan eyed for Adams County towns

Adams Electric General Manager Charles Overman urged York Springs Borough Council to pursue a cable system with South Central Area Telecommunications similar to Fairfield’s deal. He noted potential savings on electric bills via load management while stressing non exclusivity of past CATV agreements and the council’s intent to void non compliant contracts. Council members voiced interest but recalled an unfinished 1970s agreement with American Tele-Systems Corp. and authorized sending a notice to end that arrangement. Lester Wadel praised the system’s potential benefits.
