County faces two more federal funding hoops

Bermudian district adopts 8 mill tax hike in budget

The Bermudian Springs School District tentatively adopted an $8.8 million 1990-91 budget at a Tuesday meeting, raising the levy to 107 mills from 99 and marking a 26 percent increase over the prior year. Bond payments total $833,142, boosting costs as the district builds a new elementary school and renovates the high school. Superintendent Dr. W Reese Lichtel notes salaries add about $200,000, while state subsidies rise 8 percent.
