George H Oyler Found Dead In Bendersville

George H Oyler 73 of Bendersville died suddenly Wednesday morning at 8 45 in the garage behind his home from coronary thrombosis. He had planned to drive to Aspers for work at H C Gulden plant. Survived by widow Nancy Spangler two children Harry Oyler and Mrs Mervin Sterner five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral Saturday 2 PM Routson Dugan funeral home with Rev Richard K Titley. Interment Bendersville cemetery. Friends may call Friday 7 to 9 PM.

Police Trace 60 Leads In De Capitated Baby Mystery

Police report more than 60 leads in the Harrisburg area connected to the de capitated baby mystery. Chief Robert C. Harpster says none of the clues has yielded the body, found April 27 at the sewage plant, and all leads are being investigated.

Adams County Medical Society Discusses Diabetes Concepts

The Adams County Medical Society met at Annie Warner hospital with 18 members and one visitor. A committee led by Dr Roy W Gifford will study emergency care when a family physician is unavailable. Dr J Arthur Daugherty of Harrisburg spoke on newer diabetes concepts and stressed patient cooperation and diet control to improve outcomes.

Priest's Will Filed Here in Littlestown Estate Heads to Catholic Orders

The will of the Rev. Fr. John H. Weber of Littlestown, who died in an auto accident, was probated. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph A. Schmidt was named administrator of about $4500. Beneficiaries include Bishop George L. Leech for orphanages and priestly education, Delano Catholic High School, Sisters of St Joseph's Hospital, Mount Saint Mary's College, and St. Aloysius Parish Littlestown. The residue goes to St. Aloysius parish. his auto proceeds added to the estate.

Fined For Using Illegal Licenses And Local Notices

George Becker of Upper Darby paid a $10 fine plus costs to Justice W. D. Brown for driving with expired license plates per Gettysburg state police. David Hann of Hanover and Paul Deitz of York each paid $5 and costs for stop sign violations by Justice Waiter Wolf in York Springs. United group urged to stop Reds and shape world order

Dr. Hans Kohn urged a Western alliance of about 50 nations to deter Russia and prevent domination of the world. He argued for multiple world civilizations including Chinese and Islamic as alternatives to a Russia United States split, tracing Russian origins to Kiev and Constantinople and noting Orthodox faith as a factor. The talk at Bria Chapel ended as it continued on page 2.

Gettysburg College Plans Mother’s Day Activities

Gettysburg College revives Mother's Day events on May 9 with activities for parents. Frank Bretz chairs arrangements as mothers register 9 am to noon in Rec Hall, followed by May Day in Memorial Gardens at 2 pm with crowning and a maypole. Evening gym program features greetings by Dr. Hanson, music by Phi Sigma Kappa quartet, and a short skit.

Bodies Return Of Three Adams County War Dead From Overseas

Three Adams County servicemen killed in World War II are being returned home aboard army transports from Pacific and European cemeteries. Pvt. Maurice C. Small, T/Sgt. Richard J. Gross, and Pvt. Hope bill hearing in Washington on soil conservation program

W Clayton Jester of Biglerville testified before the House Agriculture committee in Washington on Wednesday in favor of the Hope bill proposing a long term soil conservation program. Gettysburg High Students Named For State FFA Band

Ross Crouse and William Durbo from Gettysburg High School are chosen for the state FFA band to perform at State College during FFA week. Also selected is Robert Fites from Adams-Franklin area. Teachers announced the selections after a meeting of ag education staff. An apportionment of the 34 participants was set for judging at State College and a county softball team was planned for FFA games. Additional county youths may join the national FFA band in Kansas City during National FFA week.

Fairfield Road Reopens After Marsh Creek Bridge Replacement

Fairfield road opened to traffic today after Hempt Brothers completed a concrete stone and steel bridge over Marsh creek replacing the 115 foot camelback bridge built in 1810. The new span cost 238156.45 with work left on shoulders. state inspection pending. Lee’s Confederate forces and the Blackhorse tavern nearby are noted historic references.

Woman admits to thefts at multiple colleges

Lillian Lucille Becker 33 of Topanga California admitted to Maryland authorities she stole from dormitories at Washington College Maryland Gettysburg College Stevens Hall and other Pennsylvania Maryland and Virginia colleges. A warrant for the Gettysburg larceny and a detainer against Maryland were reported by Chief Harpster. Over $2 worth of loot was recovered from her auto.

Sergeant Dies 19 Hours After Gas Explosion

Staff Sergeant Robert P. Petee 20 of Monroe Michigan died after a gas heated radiator explosion in a tourist cabin at Green Gables Steinwehr Avenue Gettysburg He served in Korea and returned to Camp Stoneman then Aberdeen Proving Grounds He had been visiting the battlefield area with plans to return to Maryland authorities note he was warned not to operate gas heat without office notification and that windows should be opened if necessary
