Daylight saving time returns Sunday with clocks moved forward one hour at 2 am. Most people will adjust before bed or risk being late to church and activities. Daylight time lasts until October 25 when the lost hour is restored.
Gov. Cecil Andrus vetoed Idaho’s proposed tight abortion law amid large public pleas and a threatened potato boycott. He cited lack of rape and incest provisions and warned the bill would harm women. Legislature adjourned. another push expected in 1991.
Republican Barbra Hafer restated her claim that Gov. Robert Casey is a redneck Irishman from Scranton, saying she did not intend to denigrate the Irish. Her remark drew laughter at a West Chester University appearance as campaign aides debated its meaning. A separate note reports a $100,000 Cerebral Palsy grant to the South Central Pennsylvania chapter to aid infants and toddlers with disabilities.

The prosecutor urged jurors to discount Reagan's testimony and convict John Poindexter of Iran Contra coverup charges. The defense argued Poindexter acted under political pressure and tried to disclose information, while Reagan had no direct knowledge of his actions.
