Former Hanover Brands president dies at 77

Alan R. Warehime of Hanover, former president and CEO of Hanover Brands Inc., died Saturday at his home. He led the company to national distribution, earned multiple world medals for products like Three Bean Salad and Vegetable Salad, and held leadership roles with regional and national food groups. He is survived by his daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren, and siblings. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church.

Rural church strategy urged to aid unchurched in America

Bishop Herbert W. Chilstrom of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America outlined a rural mission plan at Gettysburg Seminary. He cited about 90 million unchurched Americans, emphasizing churches as "connection-makers" binding rural communities. He urged new approaches to ministry, addressing alcohol and drug abuse, farm accidents, and limited medical care.
