Snow surprise nothing to worry about for Adams County fruit
Winter weather brought 28 degree temperatures and snow on the first day of spring. Penn State fruit extension agent William C. Kleiner said most peach buds in the pink stage could survive 28 degrees with limited damage, while some low pockets might suffer. Other fruits were said to be fine, though apples and peaches last year were down about 40 percent and cherries also declined.
