WalkAmerica contest draws 10 pairs of baby food eaters

Ten pairs competed in a Baby Food Eating Contest in Gettysburg as a preWalkAmerica event promoting March of Dimes Birth Defects Prevention. The aim was not speed but emptying the jar to the bottom, supporting Adams County WalkAmerica on Sunday April 29 with a goal of over 800 walkers raising $42,000.

Kelly Named GHS Principal in Gettysburg Vote

Gettysburg district board appointed Kelly as principal of Gettysburg Senior High, succeeding George Kiley who resigned last November. A 31 year district veteran and former vice principal, Kelly has taught at the district since 1959 and holds master’s degrees in guidance and administration. He aims for a drug free school and universal graduation while continuing education as a lifelong process. John Gregor currently serves as temporary vice principal.

Hanover shopping center plans revealed

Gettysburg businessman Robert J. Monahan Jr. says Hutchens Co. of Aiken S C plans a 330000 square foot shopping center on 55 acres east of North Hanover Mall in Hanover York County. Ground breaking could occur in August with 607 new jobs and an $5.9 million payroll.

Bonneauville council hears county renovation proposal

A $14 000 renovation plan for the Bonneauville borough offices is reviewed. Adams County will fund materials and labor if the borough caps rent increases for six years, with a stepped lease starting at 325 per month through 1991 and rising later, while court space for District Justice Samuel Frymyer is updated.

Franklin Township Auditors Read Report Findings

Auditor Glenn Hartzel said the 1989 findings were minor with recommendations for the Franklin Township supervisors. Chairman Alex Kessel halted the reading, requesting the panel review the report before public release. Hartzel defended the legal right to read it, as listed on the agenda.
