Gettysburg OKs parking rates and new plan

Gettysburg council approved a comprehensive parking plan with short and long term rates, a token system, and a new parking manager. Short term 15 minutes 10 cents, first hour 30 cents, two hours 70 cents. long term 19 cents hourly or 25 cents for three hours. No charges Sundays or holidays. Tickets 8 dollars, 4 by 24 hours, 20 after seven days.

Gettysburg school approves band room addition plans

Gettysburg school directors vote 8-0 to cap expansion cost at 75000 for a 958 square foot band room at GHS. Bid openings set for June with work to start soon after, prompted by band director Benjamin Jones.

William Little Named Borough Parking Manager in Gettysburg

Lower Gettysburg native William Little will start today as the boroughs new parking manager after council approval. He will oversee the new parking deck and system including meters, fines, and public relations while employing his background in personnel at H C Gabler Company. Little notes the meters will aid downtown turnover and employee parking, and he plans to learn meter mechanics though maintenance is handled by a separate staff. He and his wife Elizabeth reside at 55 Windbriar Lane, Gettysburg.

Upper Adams School Board cites underfunding by state

The Upper Adams School Board adopted a resolution criticizing the state for providing 39 percent of basic and special education costs instead of the required 50 percent. LIU 12 executive director Dr. Robert Weinfurther announced LIU's 20th anniversary and its service to 25 districts with about 88,000 students. The board also noted art teacher Cindi Stine showcased a laser video disc project and invited public to two museum nights. It accepted the resignation of longtime teacher Richard Allison and called for host families for a Nyiregyhaza Hungary visiting choir April 6 8.

Kennie’s Markets to Open Fourth Littlestown Store

Kennie’s Markets set to open its fourth store at 520 W. King St Littlestown six months after groundbreaking. A Monday preview drew 250 visitors as Paul K Hoover praised the quick completion by Kinsley Construction and highlighted training for about 70 staff ahead of Tuesday’s grand opening.
