Gettysburg Borough Council unanimously approved a comprehensive parking plan detailing short and long term meter rates, fines, enforcement hours, and a token system for storefront users. A new parking manager William Little was named, and deck construction began with restroom plans under review.
Gettysburg school directors voted 8 0 to approve a 958 square foot band room addition at the senior high, limiting total cost to 75000 with bids to be opened by June. The project stems from band director Benjamin Jones’s request as capacity exceeded. design by Noelker and Hall of Chambersburg at a maximum 7500.
The Bermudian Springs Board of Education will convene at 8 p.m. in the Administration Building Conference Room located on Pa Route 94 two miles south of York Springs. Cumberland Township Supervisors will discuss regular business at 7 p.m. at the township building 1370 Fairfield Road.
The Apple Ties at 40 Baltimore St in Gburg marks its tenth anniversary with a March 14 to 24 special on spring items. The event offers a free gift and the first 100 customers receive a special incentive.
Lower Gettysburg native William Little will start today as the boroughs new parking manager after the council unanimously accepted him. He will oversee the new deck and all aspects of the parking system including public relations and fines while learning meter maintenance. Little, a former Park Service Guide since 1976, lives with wife Elizabeth at 55 Windbriar Lane and expects residents to adapt quickly.
Upper Adams School Board adopted a resolution urging the governor to fulfill the state duty to cover 50 percent of basic and special education costs, noting current funding at 39 percent. LIU 12 director Dr. Robert Weinfurther and Gettysburg’s Shirley Reed discussed the unit’s 20th anniversary and service to 25 districts with 88,000 students. The meeting highlighted educational tech, a laser video disc project, upcoming art events, staffing changes, host families for a Hungarian choir, a spring donor day, and a student survey on cafeteria usage.
Kennie’s Markets set to open its fourth store at 520 W. King St Littlestown six months after breaking ground. A Monday preview drew over 250 locals to tour the 25 000 square foot supermarket while President P K Hoover praised staff training and the rapid construction by Kinsley Construction. Hoover noted the chain’s growth since Gettysburg 1960 and mentioned existing stores in Gettysburg Chambersburg Spring Grove with a fifth under separate ownership in Biglerville. Joe Amato, Littlestown manager, highlighted a three week training push for about 70 employees and cross store staff sharing ahead of the grand opening]]
