Developer still hoping to construct ski resort near Emmitsburg

Washington attorney Barry Maloney presses Emmitsburg Maryland town council to reconsider selling 170 acres for a ski resort. Adams Countians Nary in New 199th District Race

The Pennsylvania Election Bureau reports no Adams County residents filed for the new 199th Legislative District seat. In contrast three candidates filed to run in the 91st District primary. The 199th District draws from York and Cumberland Counties with Adams only contributing a portion. A lone Democrat and four Republicans seek the 199th seat, while Adams officials note deadlines extended for 19th Congressional District races. County candidates include Thomas Collins and Shirley Reed pursuing the GOP nod, with Kenneth Colemins unopposed for the Democratic line.

Write-in ballots may fill Adams County committee posts

Adams County faces many open committee seats as petitions filed fall short for both parties. Democrats lack 67 candidates and Republicans 30, based on voter registration counts. Many terms expired, prompting possible May write-in elections and later appointments by party chairs to fill remaining vacancies.

New Oxford man dies in Route 94 crash

A New Oxford man, Robert J. Poist, 46, died at the scene when his car swerved into the opposite lane on Route 94 and hit an oncoming pickup driven by Brent Mobley, 18. Mobley and his brother David, 14, were injured. Mobley in fair condition, David stable. Poist, a construction foreman, leaves a large family. Funeral services set at Immaculate Conception Church with arrangements by Feiser Funeral Home.
