Gettysburg M ayor Charles Lightner dies at 70
Gettysburg Mayor Charles N Lightner of 46 South Street died Tuesday morning at York Memorial Hospital. He was 70 and had just begun his third term after being elected in November. He served 35 years with the state Department of Transportation and 10 years with Penn Crews. He was a United Methodist and held Masonic memberships. Survived by wife Opal, daughter Patty Immons, son Charles H Lightner, two grandchildren and a niece. Funeral Friday at United Methodist Church 2 pm. Burial Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials to Gettysburg Athletic Booster Club lighting fund.
