A U S Army truck carrying Private John L. Swats and Sergeant Co Jay Brown to Milwaukee collided with the Rock Creek span on Hanover Road near Camp Holabird Maryland at 12 45 PM. Swats suffered a forehead blow and Brown was bruised as the vehicle wedged, breaking a bridge wall and wooden support, halting traffic nearly two hours while removed.

Officers Break Down Wall To Rescue 12 Year Old Boy
Youngstown report says James De Jute son of a Niles contractor was kidnapped near his home and recovered by officers in a secret tunnel at a gambling resort. Two men implicated confessed after being found with the boy and were jailed. The boy begged to go home and cried tears of relief as deputies escorted him to his father. In Columbus a separate case, Martha Ford ten disappeared from school and was found wandering after being held 24 hours. She is in hospital in a dozed state suffering from exposure after an attempted attack.

Buyers were scarce at curb markets this morning and stalls offered limited staples such as apples potatoes chickens eggs butter and pork products. Prices included potatoes 75 cents a bushel eggs 15 cents a dozen dressed chickens 75 cents to 1.40 a pound sausage 15 to 20 cents a pound and butter 25 to 35 cents a pound.

De Frank Denies Assault Charge Held For Court
Joseph DeFrank 35, an Italian boxer and worker, is held in default of 2000 bail on aggravated assault and battery after a hearing before Justice of the Peace Charles Wolf East Berlin. The case stems from an alleged attack on Kathryn E. Bosserman 22 at Baker's school near East Berlin. Bosserman testified along with her father and brother who aided her, while Dr Eugene Elgin treated wounds and John Baker noted DeFrank's visit to his home. Gardners man admits stealing gasoline from Knouse plant
Ray Zeigler 22 of Gardners was arrested by state police on a charge of stealing about 50 gallons of gasoline from a Knouse Corp canning plant pump between February and March. He allegedly forced the pump handle on five occasions. He posted $500 bail for April court terms and pleaded guilty.
