Fire destroys Gardners garage in Route 34 blast

A flash gasoline fire destroyed Gravers’ garage two miles south of Mount Holly Springs on Route 34. L. Graver suffered third degree burns and escaped with his life as firefighters battled blasts from acetylene and gasoline while pumping water from a farm pond to contain the blaze. Loss estimated at $150,000 with vehicle and contents destroyed. Graver treated at Carlisle Hospital and released.

Adams County Divorce and Marriage Trends Rise in 1981

In Adams County 264 divorce suits were filed in 1981 as marriage licenses reached 560 applications. The increase followed Pennsylvania's 1980 no fault divorce law. Women led divorce filings with 154 cases to 105 by men, while license applications edged up about 3 percent from 1980.
