Mount Joy man abducted by gunman in four-hour ordeal

Charles Louis Bayer recounts the Friday interview about the four-hour abduction by William Jay Eck of Lebanon. Eck, who had served a six-year murder sentence, abducted Bayer Thursday driving his minivan toward Harrisburg, later fleeing after a police chase. Eck reportedly threatened self harm to avoid prison and claimed to have injured others during the incident. Eck stole two cars in Maryland before entering Mount Joy Township. police later found Bayer unharmed.

Lebanon man sought for kidnapping and gunpoint spree

Police identified 32 year old William Jay Eck of Lebanon as the armed suspect in a kidnapping and string of car thefts and burglaries. Eck abducted a Mount Joy Township man, forced him to drive through Cumberland and Harrisburg regions, then released him along I-81. Police warned Eck is armed and dangerous and ongoing inquiries focus on the Mount Joy Township and Lebanon County area.
