The Pennsylvanian motor federation cites rising highway crashes from drivers failing to signal. S. Edward Gable urges compliance with No. 1012, outlining hand arm methods and mechanical signals, noting enforcement is difficult but essential for safety.
A brake clinic sponsored by the Adams county automobile dealers association will be held in the Hotel Gettysburg annex at 7 30 this evening. Officers invite all automobile dealers and the public to attend the clinic. Judge Henry C. Niles of York will vote on the first ballot for Newton D. Baker for the Democratic presidential nomination. He is a delegate-at-large with a half vote.
Gettysburg Chamber of Commerce directors plan to consider a November 19 observance marking the 69th anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. They aim to boost civic initiatives, secure funds, and attract transient business with renewed promotion and national publicity. New officers will be elected and folders to promote the area are planned before summer.
Dr. A R Wentz of the Lutheran Theological Seminary returned from New York City where on Wednesday evening he installed the Rev Clay Lambert a Gettysburg college and seminary graduate as pastor of St Thomas Lutheran Church Lambert formerly resided in Gettysburg The ceremony marked a new chapter for the local church leadership
In May the Adams County Herd Improvement Association logged results from thirteen herds, 176 milking cows, fifteen dry cows. Lee McCauslin reported forty three cows produced over forty pounds of butterfat and sixteen over fifty. Ninety cows produced over 1,000 pounds of milk and thirty five over 1,200. Members with cows producing over forty pounds relate to John C. Bream, Hiram Miller, George Motter, A B C Williams, and others in Gettysburg, Fairfield, Latimore, Hanover, York Springs. Three cows topped one ton of milk. The association closes another year and invites new members starting July 1. interested dairymen should contact County Agent M. M. Hartman or Lee A. McCauslin.

Explosion damaged Earl W. McLaughlin’s barber shop on Main Street Fairfield on Wednesday. About 150 dollars in damage occurred with fire and shattered glass. no one was inside. Fire department extinguished flames. damage covered by insurance.
War veteran and Bradford attendee Mrs. R. E. Tipton was elected state historian of the United Spans at the 1932 veterans and auxiliary convention. She was praised for promoting the Gettysburg auxiliary and for extensive veterans’ activities. Weather: fair tonight, Friday partly cloudy with little temperature change.
David Jones, a married Black man from West Street, was arrested at the Wavell home on Steinwehr Avenue after allegedly undressing and peering from a rear porch roof. He was found on the roof by a tourist and neighbors with a flashlight, then taken to jail. Police plan to file indecent exposure charges with Justice Shearer.
Governor Roosevelt endorses the wet plank and backs prohibition repeal as Mississippi sets its 20 votes under unit rule for him. James A. Farley reports Roosevelt may gain about 705 first-ballot votes with Indiana and Virginia margins watched as delegates toss support in early balloting.
At a Burgess Heiges hearing Mrs Martin of Lincoln avenue was fined ten dollars for alleged tourist solicitation near the Wolf home. Counsel said the dispute would go to court. Testimony described a Wednesday evening incident involving tourists Mr and Mrs Donaldson from Tennessee and a visit to either the Wolf or Martin residence.
Adams county peaches appeared at the curb market priced at 10 cents per quart box. Growers predicted a large crop barring unforeseen incidents. Cherries flooded the market with four boxes for 25 cents, some top fruit selling at three for a quarter. Black raspberries moved at 15 cents a box or 2 for 25 cents while red raspberries went for 20 cents a box. Strawberries lingered at 10 cents a box or 3 for 25 cents.
The second compulsory motor vehicle inspection period in Pennsylvania runs from July 1 to September 30. All registered passenger cars and motor vehicles must be inspected at official stations, regardless of prior inspections. Old stickers become invalid after July 1 and new ultramarine blue stickers will be issued with station numbers perforated by the Department of Revenue.
Miss Mariam L. Baile daughter of Mr and Mrs Jesse L Bartle Hanover and John Bernard Utz son of Mr and Mrs John Utz near Littlestown were married Saturday evening at 7 o clock in New Windsor Maryland. The ceremony was performed by Rev John Jacob Johns headmaster of the New Windsor college. They were unattended and will reside at the bride's home The bridegroom is employed by the Jol Teeter road construction company The bride is employed at the Rade Avenue silk mill.
Miss Cymbeline Felker of Gattys burg and Lloyd A. Biesecker of Gashtown were wed this morning at 9:30 at Christ Lutheran church by Rev. Dwight F. Putmani. Mrs. Biesecker will continue as office secretary at the Lutheran Theological Seminary. Mr. Biesecker works in carpentry and construction in Gettysburg and nearby.
Funeral services for Mrs Ben Grace Myers wife of Charles H Rivers were held at the Myers home and at St Pauls Lutheran Biglerville with Rev H W Sternat officiating. Interment followed in Biglerville cemetery. Pallbearers named C E Deatrick Male Heiges Filmore Bream Edward Bowers Howard Spangler and W K Enck.
Gettysburg fire company held a four day food sale and bazaar with gross business near 180 dollars on opening night. Attendance fell short of expectations but proceeds exceeded hopes as bean soup drew crowds. The sale runs through Saturday evening. Louise Wampler was treated at Warner Hospital after a needle removal from her arm.
A coroner's jury in Weynesboro found the Thursday night automobile accident that killed 16 year old Priscilla Swope and injured her sister Isabelle avoidable. The contact between Creager's Fairfield Route 1 car and McClear's Highfield vehicle occurred well before a curve near Fountain Dale. Creager's speed was 20 to 35 mph while McClear said not more than five mph. No charge against Creager is planned. if pursued it would be in Adams county.
Harrisburg June 30 AP Senate leaders consider two courses on charges of misconduct in office against W. D. B. Ainey of the Public Service Commission. They may launch an immediate investigation or wait for formal notice and Ainey’s denial to be presented to the governor on July 11.
Troopers G. M. Schreckengast and W. E. Gressant today relieved Troopers Kinless and Hahn at the state police sub-station. Sergeant Russell W. Frutchey, formerly stationed here, takes command, succeeding Corporal Joseph Holocwest. Hospital reports include Joseph Boyer of Biderville and Gladys Bucher of Seven Svars undergoing appendectomies at Warner hospital. Mrs. Earl DeHari of Gettysburg R D was discharged from the hospital.
Trading ended with mixed results as the market showed an upturn midafternoon but trimmed gains by close. The index hovered around the previous close with several issues slipping and volume remaining uneven throughout the session.
A marriage license was issued Wednesday afternoon at the office of Clerk of the Courts Clatton F. Palmer to John W Crain and Marie Rogers, both residents of Annapolis Maryland. An extra seemingly garbled line follows about a Saturday event and a stray name.
