Taylor in hospital as murder trial delayed

Jeanette Ruth Taylor, a Biglerville resident, lies in a Carlisle Hospital ICU in a coma amid a request to postpone her trial on charges including criminal attempt to commit murder and aggravated assault. Gettysburg reassessment draws crowd as taxes loom

About 100 residents attended a reassessment meeting at Gettysburg High School to learn how the county’s new property values were calculated. 21st Century Appraisals uses computer models across 400 500 formulas based on 3000 sales to reassess 35481 taxable properties. New notices arrive Friday Saturday with most owners seeing little or no tax increase in year one though some may pay less.

Jail-A-Thon fundraiser invites arrests for charity in Gettysburg

Time is running out for the American Cancer Society Jail Time event. For 15 dollars or 25 dollars for two, residents can have someone arrested on a bogus charge. Arrests take place at the Gettysburg National Bank area with a judge setting bail, minimum 100 dollars, as pledges are collected. Judges include T W Burger and Francis I Linn. Littlestown council denies sewer hookup appeal

Littlestown Borough Council rejected a resident’s request to connect to the borough sewer system via Germany Township. Solicitor John White noted historical agreement excludes Germany Township. Union Township helped fund the project. Borough officials warned development of 300 acres could require plant expansion. Residents urged to push Germany Township supervisors for proposals. The meeting also covered Classic Cable TV improvements and West King Street work with a PennDOT detour.

Bendersville residents oppose 89 unit mobile home park plan

About 50 residents plan to attend tonight’s borough council meeting moved to the community hall on Park Street to oppose the Apple Park Village project.
