Warner Hospital to Dedicate New Wing on 50th Anniversary

The Annie M. Warner Hospital will dedicate its new obstetric and maternity wing at 1 30 Saturday on the front lawn. Hospital President Allen Stauffer notes the $3 million facility is largely funded by Adams County residents and honors 50 years of service. Judge John A. MacPhair will be principal speaker, with other speakers from the medical staff and Women's Auxiliary. Public inspection follows from 2 to 4 p.m.

Vietnam tolls ease but American wounded jump in week

U S Command reports light American deaths in Vietnam and Cambodia for the week of June 14 20 the lowest in nine weeks yet American wounded rise from 364 to 643. South Vietnamese losses totaled 366 dead and 1 071 wounded while enemy casualties climbed to 2 093 killed. In Cambodia U S casualties since April 29 total 331 killed and 1 477 wounded. A Cambodian base near Phnom Penh faced renewed attacks three miles from Kompong Luong near a key ferry crossing on the Tonle Sap River.

Baltimore death of former Gettysburg resident F K Schwartz

Freder ik K Schwartz, 76, died of a stroke in Baltimore. A Gettysburg College alum and former Public Utility Commission analyst, he retired in 1965. He lived with a daughter in Baltimore and is survived by his widow, three children and four grandchildren. services were in Baltimore with burial in Worthington, Pennsylvania.

Biglerville Fire Co launches coin card fundraiser

Service Station Burglarized In Fairfield Larceny Case

State police investigate a larceny at the Fairfield Esso Service Station on the east edge of Fairfield. Cherry picking workers to help with county harvest

Adams County fruitgrowers will hire about 225 local youths for the cherry harvest starting July 6, with bus service from New Oxford Littlestown and Gettysburg. The migrant labor force this year is expected to be 1200 Negroes and 400 Puerto Ricans, while unemployment peaks in June at about 1400.

Kennedy Memorial Dedicated Near JFK Shooting Site

A box-like monument honoring President John F Kennedy was dedicated in Dallas beside the kilo bullet site. About 250 attendees attended the ceremony near the memorial designed by Philip Johnson with Kennedy family invited but not present.

Borough Offices Relocate to New Site this Friday

Straban Two School District Petition Heard in Adams County

A hearing in Adams County examined residents of Straban Township seeking to form an independent district joined to New Oxford Area School. About 163 signatures backed court approval for the move as students now attend Gettysburg and New Oxford alternately. Anna Crabill testified shorter travel to New Oxford benefits families and afterschool activities. Hash, New Oxford supervising principal, and Adams County superintendent Coulson testified about district liability and acceptance of roughly 100 students.

Planning Board Endorses Rt. 34 Reroute in Adams County

Adams County Planning Commission endorsed a relief routing for Route 34 northeast of Gardners and Idaville pending Huntington Twp supervisors approval. The plan would use existing roads to create a minimum cost two lane reroute while keeping Rt. 34 as a traffic carrier.
