Gettysburg HARB approves First Federal branch plan

Historic Architectural Review Board of Gettysburg recommends borough council approve a two story red brick First Federal Savings and Loan branch on Chambersburg Street with a back drive through window and planter setback. Wayne Heights property purchase eyed by township officials

Wayne Heights Civic Association building and adjacent 10 acres may be bought by Washington Township in Franklin County for storage and an adult recreation area. The auction failed as bids were too low. township officials sought $60 000 to $75 000, with a meeting planned to decide a fair price. The plan supports expanded storage for road maintenance amid a possible state move to cede secondary roads to municipalities. The building serves as a voting site for about 180 registered voters.

Old Adams County Courthouse windows to return to restoration project

Arthur Weaner will sell six original sashes from the 1859 Adams County Courthouse back to the county for restoration on Baltimore Street. The county plans to copy the windows for five others. the sashes total about 94 inches and glass worth roughly 5200. Weaner kept panes for clocks, stored the rest, and offered the windows when restoration was approved.
