Acting Gov. Mark Singel pledged to veto any legislative pay raise sent to his desk. Senate Democratic Floor Leader J. William Lincoln proposed boosting pay for rank-and-file members from 47 000 to about 50 290 to 50 760 a year.

Fairfield Area School District approves new elementary teacher

The Fairfield Area School District Board votes 6-0 to add an elementary teacher for 1993-94 to ease crowded lower grades. Registration totals show 87 kindergartners, 96 first graders, 76 second, 87 third, 84 fourth, with 56 in the graduating class.

Littlestown picks Patricia Dovey as next superintendent

The Littlestown Area School District board approved a 1993 budget and named Patricia Dovey as new superintendent effective July 1. Dovey, from Dover Area School District, has 34 years in education and will earn 65 000 per year. She succeeds retirementing John D. Smarsh after 34 years.

Gettysburg boundary plan meeting to discuss land protections

The public meeting Thursday at 7 pm in the Cyclorama Center auditorium will present the Land Protection Plan for Gettysburg National Military Park. The draft outlines federal ownership needs, acquisition limits, and incentives based conservation to protect about 2000 expanded acres and 47 monuments.
